Day 9 South West Trip

South West Trip Day 9 Friday May 12, 2017

Today starts in Omaha, NE
And finishes in North Platt, NE
Across most of Nebraska
Visiting the SAC Air Museum and the Union Pacfic Switch Yard

Places Visited Along The Way, Photos, and Notes

I woke up in south west Omaha, NE

Ashland has a Strategic Air & Space Museum
that I had not visited before. All the airplanes are on loan from the Air Force
and some of which I had seen previously when they were on
the tarmac out at Offutt Air Base in the 80's
It was less formal then and you could touch the airplanes

Lincoln had nothing new that caught my attention
since my last visit so I rode on by

I stopped at a McD in York and had a breakfast burrito

Then road on Hwy-34, the old Lincoln Highway as far as Aurora
Then got back onto the interstate

Rural middle Nebraska is wonderful country

Platte River Harley-Davidson in Grand Island

has a new owner and do not have dealer pins yet

The Great Platte River Road Archway about 2 miles east of Kearney
Is a fun place to visit. They have a walk-through museum
of westward expansion in the arch over the highway.

Unfortunately, no views of the highway from above
but the exhibits are interesting to see
